ISO 14001 is the least known environmental standard, but the most demanding. It is internationally accepted and establishes how to develop an effective environmental management system. This standard has been conceived to manage the delicate balance between the maintenance of profitability and reduction of environmental impact. With the commitment of the whole organization it allows to achieve both objectives.

This means that some aspects of the business can be identified, having an impact on the environment in order to understand the environmental laws that are meaningful for this situation. The next step consists of developing improvement objectives and a management program passing through periodical reviews. In this way the system can be evaluated regularly and if the regulations are accomplished, the company is ready to sign in the ISO standard.

Ecological and agricultural production also called biological or organic, is a system of production and elaboration of natural agricultural products. The main goal is to obtain high quality food. The techniques used in ecological and agricultural production are respectful towards the environment and the community, because they restrict the use of chemical products (hormones, herbicides, etc.). In addition, ecological and agricultural products do not contain any residue of these substances.

This certification is necessary to guarantee that the ecological and production system of the food gets to the consumer with the maximum safety. For this purpose, CCPAE makes an exhaustive control of the operators through audits of the systems of production and elaboration. The system of production, elaboration and control remains the same for all European Union countries and is regulated by the register: (CE) 834/2007.
